The After Effects Of Visarjan.

Hi guys,
Do you remember a day before "Anant Chaturthi" or "The Immersion Ceremony" of Ganpati Bappa ,I had posted a blog about how important it is to start bringing Eco Friendly Ganpati and to avoid the POP (Plaster Of Paris) ones?? In case you missed it, click here👉 Ganpati Bappa Morya!! (2019)

It has been 14 days after that post now and a couple of days ago, one of my friend visited a nearby beach called the "Aksa Beach" and he sent me some pictures which showed "the After Effects of Visarjan" which was held with such enthusiasm.

You can see the damage that has been caused and you will be heartbroken to see your bappa's idol lying there with it's hands and legs broken. Not only that but also the water gets highly contaminated due to the chemical based coloyrs on the idols and pop.
You looked after him for 11 days and forget about him on the 12th day. How is this fair?

I already said in my previous blog that people have heartily devotion and love for Ganpati Bappa or for any other God for that matter. People get so emotional while saying goodbye to their beloved Ganpati Bappa, then Doesn't it break your heart to see him in such condition?
I just wanted to ask you guys, Does this picture make you happy in any way?

Is this what you wanted? All your faith, devotion and love for Ganpati Bappa was for nothing?
We pray to him to ease our sufferings and to bring good health to our friends and family and after a certain period of time or after a certain amount of days you send him home with all the love that you have given, only to see him coming back from that ocean and getting muddy in the sand left like trash or a showpiece.

I don't want to write a long essay on this situation. I just wanted to put these pictures out and let you guys know that this is the condition right after like 10-15 days of Visarjan. This was just one place where you saw this situation, just think about how many beaches and rivers will be filled with such idols broken and alone.

We guys need to take some responsibility for our environment, and I really hope this changes something.
⠀
Even if I am able to convince one person with my blog to help our environment in a better way and to encourage them to bring Eco Friendly Ganpati from next year, that would really suffice all the efforts I am putting in to make these blogs and further encourage me to make more of it.

It's Ganesh Chaturthi 2019 and Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated all over India to it's absolute fullest.

An Indian Freedom fighter, Lokmanya Tilak started this tradition of Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav in 1893. He saw this utsav as an opportunity in bringing people together to celebrate in unity.
Historical records also say that Shivaji Maharaj was the one to initiate Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra.

Anyways, whoever may have started it, this festival definitely brings people together.
Every year Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with So much joy and enthusiasm. Ganesh Pandals are set up at almost every society as well as Ganesh idols are installed at homes too.
People worship the god of wisdom and knowledge i.e. our beloved Ganpati Bappa with extreme devotion, faith and love.

Being said this, this festival is followed by "The Immersion Ceremony" Or "Visarjan" Which is done in Rivers and Oceans since a long time now, which has now caused havoc on ocean and river beds and the water is totally contaminated.

People get all teary eyed and emotional during Visarjans but how come they don't realise that by immersing these idols into Oceans and Rivers, it's just a matter of few more years that these natural beauties would be totally devastated and we will be the reason for its devastation.
"Keeping our environment safe and clean is the need of the hour."

Now, these Ganpati Bappa's murti's or idols are mostly made of POP i.e. Plaster Of Paris and are painted with colours which are harmful and contains poisonous chemicals and heavy metals. Just Imagine: every year thousands of idols are being immersed into these rivers and oceans; literally "EVERY YEAR"

It is not only harmful for us but also for the marine life living inside of it.

How is this fair to them?

There are also videos circulated on social media where the idols are literally just thrown down from a bridge like it's just a showpiece. Is this your devotion and love for god? Or just a fake showoff of devotion?

However there are a few people who care for our planet and environment, and are coming up with better alternatives like "Krutrim Talav" or "Faux/ Artificial Lake" which is use to immersify the idols and and later the artificial lake is closed again with soil and mud or however it's required to do; also there is another really cool concept of "Eco Friendly Ganesha"

How is this cool?
Because none of these Ganpati idols are harmful Or poisonous, they contain substances which will help our planet and environment in a way or other. Eco-friendly Ganesha's are not only safe but also very beautiful to look at. Also, you feel a sense of happiness that you contributed towards a safe environment.

Well! let's take a look at a few of the eco-friendly Ganeshas, shall we?

1. One of my friend (Ankur Dhamale) has this beautiful Ganpati Bappa's idol for 3 years at his place which is made of soil. They immerify the idol at home and later plant a tree in it. Even their decoration is eco-friendly.How thoughtful of them, isn't it?

2. These idols are also made of soil and mud. And are safe and eco-friendly.

Tomorrow is the last day of Ganesh Chatuthurti!

So, let's take a pledge this year...

If you had Ganpati Bappa at your your home or in your society which was not eco friendly friendly, I really request you to maybe try and start bringing eco friendly Ganpati Bappas from next year onwards.

This will be YOUR 1st step towards creating a safe environment for yourself and the future generation as well as being an inspiration for everyone who knows you personally.

And I really hope that from next year i.e. from 2020 we will be be experiencing Eco Friendly Ganpati Bappa on a much larger scale.
